Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of Houma, LA, 1921 Seafood And Oyster Bar is a vibrant seafood restaurant that beckons both locals and visitors with its authentic Cajun flair and fresh, flavorful offerings. Specializing in seafood, crab dishes, oysters, and even hearty po’ boys, this spot expertly balances the rustic charm of a crab house with the casual comfort of a burger joint.

The menu here is a delightful journey through Louisiana’s coastal bounty. Start with the iconic Crab Stuffer, a decadent dish that showcases tender crab meat packed into a savory stuffing—each bite bursting with ocean-fresh flavor. For those who prefer land-based delights, the Hamburger and Fried or Grilled Chicken Sandwich options provide satisfying comfort food with a Southern twist. And it wouldn’t be a true Houma experience without sampling their “After The Boil Soup,” a heartwarming, richly seasoned broth that captures the essence of a traditional seafood boil in every spoonful.

1921 Seafood And Oyster Bar is particularly revered for their oysters—so fresh and generously sized, they’ve earned a reputation as some of the best in the region. Several patrons rave about the raw oysters on the half shell, praising their briny sweetness and meaty texture, which perfectly pairs with an ice-cold beer. For a festival of flavors, the Trash Basket—laden with grilled soft shell crab, shrimp, oysters, and catfish—is a mouthwatering medley that leaves diners eager for more.

The atmosphere here is genuine and welcoming, typifying a rustic local seafood joint where casual dining meets authentic Southern hospitality. The seat-yourself policy encourages a laid-back dining experience, enhanced by attentive and speedy service. While parking can be a bit limited, arriving early eases that concern, ensuring you don’t miss out on the lively, down-to-earth vibe that so many guests appreciate.

Though some guests have noted the occasional rough edges in nearby table conversations, the inclusive hospitality and delicious food usually shine through. Many visitors return, drawn by the freshness of the seafood and the family-style warmth of the setting—making 1921 Seafood And Oyster Bar a memorable destination for anyone seeking a true taste of Louisiana’s coastal cuisine.

Whether you’re craving juicy, grilled oysters, a perfectly fried fish meal, or a satisfying crab dish, 1921 delivers each with a soulful touch. Expect bold flavors, expertly prepared dishes, and a hearty helping of Southern charm in every visit.

My wife and I ate here and felt very welcome, however, the guests at the other table dropped the N bomb frequently. I looked at her in disbelief and she simply said," that's how they talk down here"! I'm black, no thank you.

In town for work. Locals said 1921 has best oysters around. They weren’t kidding. Biggest oysters I’ve ever seen. Ordered the trash basket grilled. Soft shell, shrimp, oysters and catfish. Enjoyed it immensely. My wife had the red snapper fillet with sweet potato fries. The food was delicious. A little on the pricey side. We enjoyed the atmosphere and meal

Tucked off the main road, this rustic local seafood joint has limited parking, but arriving early solved that. It's a seat-yourself spot with menus already on the tables, and the service was quick and smooth. A local recommended the raw oysters on the half shell, and they didn’t disappoint. Served fast, they were generously sized. I enjoyed two dozen ($16 per dozen) and a beer, totaling around $40 with tip—great value. I’d definitely return for those oysters.

We were in town for a wedding. As we were headed to the hotel, my husband spotted this place. We had a dozen of raw oysters and a “Trash Bucket.” The fish was delicious. It was a fresh and hot. Since it was close to closing, I was expecting something warmed over. If in the area again, we would stop by.

One of the best bars I've been to in the states, nice atmosphere and nice set-up. The waitress was really friendly and explaining some combination possibilities. The crawfish was really well seasoned and the Blue Crab which was a first for us was tasty.

The food truly is amazing.. Good food isnt fast, fast food isnt good. This is no place to go to if you're in a rush. You've got to take ur time. Waiting time to get tables isnt that bad compared to other restaurants in its category, While seated, relax, look around you and see whats on others table, cos that is what will come, but you've got to be patient. It was an amazing and soulful seafood experience.. the staffs were great. It was a 5star experience, I had to rate it 4 cos despite the good food and the large quantities of the seafood. The sides weren't that much. Just a few potatoes and onion tossed i . I would sacrifice some of the crawfish for more potatoes(I need a distraction while getting my hands dirty breaking the shells.. Other than that. It was amazing. Oh. $70 bill for my dinner. Totally worthy, but I'm glad I'm out of town, otherwise, I'll be broke cos I'd want to have it every day...
